Cautions and Warnings
Bloating has been reported infrequently. If this occurs it usually only lasts for a short period of time. It is most likely due to changing intestinal bacteria. If you experience bloating, you may need to reduce your daily intake of VSL#3 for a few days to allow for this adjustment. Pregnant and lactating women should consult a physician before use. If you have fever, vomiting, bloody diarrhea or sever abdominal pain, consult a health care practitioner prior to use. If symptoms of digestive upset (e.g. diarrhea) occurs and/or persists beyond 3 days, discontinue use and consult a health care practitioner. Keep out of reach of children.1
Avoid taking VSL#3 with antibiotics. Antibiotics may inactivate the live bacteria in VSL#3. If you have an immune-compromised condition (e.g. AIDS, lymphoma, patient undergoing long-term corticosteroid treatment), do not use this product.1
Known Adverse Reactions
Available clinical studies have demonstrated no significant side effects in individuals taking VSL#3. There have been infrequent reports of flatulence (gas) or bloating. In addition fermentable foods such as beans, cauliflower and root vegetables could worsen undesired effects. Discuss the best options for you with your physician.1
